Okay so no Madson deal…First it was reported that David Montgomery was reviewing the deal, which was holding it up. Then at out nowhere the deal was off. Word was that Montgomery didn’t want to spend that much on a closer. Then they sign Paplebon to the largest contract for a closer. Might this seem odd? Yes. But I will tell you what happened. Scott Boras(Madsons agent) balked at the offer and was trying to buy time to drive the price up. In the mean time the Phils sign Papelbon at a most likely cheaper price than what Boras was trying to get for Madson. So if you are mad about Madson leaving don’t blame Ryan or the Phils, its all Borass. I liek Paps, Love Madson, will miss him. Just hoping that they didnt just give away Jimmies money.
